Working in a Quaker school

Staff from Bootham School in York, Leighton Park in Reading and Ackworth School in Pontefract have been on a trip. They’ve joined colleagues at Sibford School in Oxfordshire for the 2018 ‘Working in a Quaker School Conference.’

The Biennial event, covered key areas including Quaker beliefs, methods and values. It also covered an introduction to Quaker business practice and the use of silence in Quaker schools.

Delegates also took advantage of networking opportunities. They will build on these in the future to strengthen their Quaker roots.

A note from the organiser

Conference organiser Zoë Simms is the Head of RS and Quaker Overseer at Sibford School. She said:

“In these turbulent times within education we need to make space to learn more about and reflect upon our shared Quaker testimonies in order to engage with the young people in our care.  The conference provided this opportunity. We valued the time we spent together and the lessons we learned will be shared within the Quaker school community.”
