Sidcot School crowned finalists for International Student Experience in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2026

Sidcot School is delighted to announce that it has been named as a finalist for International Student Experience in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2026. The recognition follows the School being shortlisted in the same category last year and celebrates the inclusive, supportive and enriching environment the School has created for students from around the world and highlights the strength of its vibrant international community.
Home to students from more than 30 countries, Sidcot embraces cultural diversity as a cornerstone of its educational experience. Students bring a wealth of perspectives, traditions and experiences to campus life, creating a dynamic and globally minded community.
The School believes that learning alongside people from different backgrounds broadens horizons, fosters understanding and prepares young people to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
This commendation is particularly significant as it reflects Sidcot’s commitment to listening to students and responding to what matters most to them. Recent initiatives have included expanding food offerings to better represent the cultures within the School community and launching a professional basketball programme, ensuring students feel valued, supported and able to flourish both academically and personally.
At the heart of Sidcot’s international experience is its boarding community. For many students, boarding provides a true home away from home, where lasting friendships are formed, independence is nurtured, and cultural differences are celebrated every day.
One boarding student described their experience, saying:
“The boarding community is very welcoming, and everyone supports each other. It feels like a family away from home.”
Another student reflected on the benefits of being part of such a diverse community:
“Being part of such an international community has helped me understand different cultures and perspectives. I’ve made friends from all over the world and learned so much from them.”

These experiences are what make Sidcot distinctive. From the classroom to the boarding houses, sports pitches, creative arts spaces and extensive co-curricular programme, students learn not only from their teachers but also from one another, developing the skills and outlook needed to succeed in a global society.
Rooted in its Quaker values, Sidcot is committed to nurturing curious, compassionate and globally minded young people who are ready to make a positive difference in the world. This achievement reflects the dedication of staff, boarding teams, students, families and the wider School community, all of whom contribute to creating a welcoming environment where every young person can thrive.
Commenting on the recognition, James Jones, Head of Sidcot School said:
“We are incredibly proud to have been named as finalists for International Student Experience in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2026. This recognition reflects the warmth, diversity and sense of belonging that define our community. We would like to thank our students, staff, families and supporters who help make Sidcot a place where young people from around the world feel at home, achieve their potential and develop into confident global citizens.”
Sidcot School extends its thanks to everyone who contributes to creating an exceptional experience for international students and looks forward to continuing to build a community in which every student feels welcomed, empowered and inspired to succeed.
