National Indoor Athletics Championships 2022

Three athletics superstars from Sidcot School made the long trip to Yorkshire and the Institute of Sport in Sheffield for the National Indoor Athletics Championships.

Three students from Sidcot School competed in the National Indoor Athletics Championships 2022 this February. George L (Shot Put), Nyree (Pole Vault) and George I (Triple Jump and Hurdles) were all competing.

George L

After weeks of hard work, focus and training in preparation for the Indoor Athletics Championships, George competed as a first-year in the U17 Shot Put event. He was delighted to achieve a PB of 13.68m which meant that he was just shy of a place on the podium. He is now ranked 4th in the UK and looks forward to future competitions as a U17 where he hopes to throw over 14m.

Nyree

Nyree competed brilliantly once again but for the first time fell a little short this time. But the experience was excellent and it was a chance to try out her new run-up and be coached by an Olympic level coach too.

George I

After meeting the qualifying criteria Year 11 student George competed in the England Indoor National Championships in Sheffield at the weekend, medaling in the U17 Men’s Triple Jump coming 2nd and getting a PB in the U17 Men’s 60m Hurdles, just missing out on reaching the final by 0.07 seconds.
