- 16 August 2021 -
Today, Year 11 pupils at The Mount School York are celebrating outstanding GCSE results. Many girls received GCSE grades 8 and 9 across all subjects.
Adrienne Richmond, Principal of The Mount commented, “I am delighted for the girls and their wonderful very much deserved results. They have worked extremely diligently despite the ever-changing circumstances. The girls have had an incredibly challenging two years, but they remained focussed on their studies and intent on achieving their very best. They have risen to the challenges with determination and good humour, as well as being incredibly supportive of one another. They have demonstrated the resilience and compassion we strive to nurture in all of our girls at The Mount. It has been a privilege to watch them grow and develop in character and confidence over their time at The Mount.”
The Mount champions all subjects equally, free from gender stereotypes. Through a bespoke curriculum girls confidently achieve across all subjects. This was reflected today in the high grades awarded across the curriculum including STEM, creative and humanities subjects. Bespoke curricula are tailored to inspire and encourage girls’ own love of learning. Girls engage with the content and dedicated staff deploy teaching methods which best support the many unique ways that girls learn.
A number of girls were celebrating their outstanding results today including Eleanor Sykes who achieved nine grade 9s and one grade 8. “I am so happy! The support, from all the teachers and my friends as well, everyone was simply great. My favourite subject was Design Technology because of the coursework.”
Twins Isabel and Sophie were also celebrating achieving all grades 8s and 9s. “I am over the moon! The hard work has paid off. Thank you, my teachers have been so great helping me get through it. I’m taking Biology, Chemistry and Maths next year, and hoping to study Medicine at university,” said Sophie
“I am so happy about my results. It has been such a long time since we sat exams. The teachers definitely helped, you can’t do it without the teachers, they are so good at what they do and are really nice. Having all of my friends around supporting each other also helped,” added Isabel.
“I am really pleased with my results. What helped was starting to revise at the beginning of the year and not leaving it all to the last minute,” explained Rosie Morrison, who achieved grades 7,8 & 9s.
The outstanding GCSE results come in the same week The Mount also celebrated amazing A Level results.
Adrienne Richmond added, “This week’s GCSE and A Level results represent a tremendous achievement for both girls and staff who have worked incredibly hard in challenging times. As well as congratulating all the girls, I would also like to thank the efforts of all our staff, who have provided the individual care and attention that has enabled our girls to reach and often exceed their individual targets.”
