Hospice Fundraising at Bootham School
One Bootham School student has gone above and beyond to raise both funds and awareness for Martin House Children’s Hospice.
Bootham School is celebrating the outstanding efforts of College One pupil, Will, who has gone above and beyond to raise both funds and awareness for Martin House Children’s Hospice.
Inspired by witnessing the vital support children’s hospices provide to patients and their families, Will set himself a demanding physical and emotional challenge. Determined to make a meaningful impact, he completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks – choosing to take on the challenge during winter, with reduced daylight and tougher conditions, making the achievement even more remarkable.
Alongside the endurance challenge, Will also organised a charity cake sale, which proved to be one of the busiest the school has ever seen, thanks to the incredible support of the Bootham student body. Together, these efforts raised a significant sum for Martin House Children’s Hospice.
Pushing himself even further outside his comfort zone, Will also spoke at a Bootham morning meeting, addressing the entire senior school to share his experience and raise awareness of the hospice’s work.
Beth, Regional Manager at Martin House Children’s Hospice, praised Will’s dedication, saying: “I just wanted to say how fantastic Will has been, in terms of communication, organisation and how he has planned everything and done such an amazing job. I am so impressed. He should be really proud of himself.”
Will’s commitment reflects Bootham’s core values of nurturing strong character, social responsibility and the courage and confidence to speak up and make a difference. His actions are a powerful example of how giving back can positively shape the community and create lasting impact.
Well done Will – Bootham is incredibly proud of you!
